Micro realism

Micro and mini work goes in small. It sits in tight places such as the wrist or behind the ear, and it is an easy way to start if it is your first. Small does not mean easy — the smaller it gets, the more each single line has to carry.

A small tattoo has no spare room. The same design needs more tidying than it would at a larger size.

So rather than shrink the original drawing, I redraw it, keeping only what survives at that size.

Lines set too close together can look joined up as the years pass. That is why the gaps are opened out in advance.

A small bird, a mini tattoo, lips — work of that size belongs here.

Sessions are short, so they are easy to schedule. It is no trouble even if your trip is tight.

Healing is lighter too, though the aftercare is no different from a large piece.

Flat places with little friction — the wrist, the collarbone, the inner arm, behind the ear — are the safe ones.

Fingers and feet get a great deal of use, and a small design there fades more easily, so I say so in advance.

Starting small and adding pieces beside it later is possible.

If you have that in mind, tell me when we choose the first position. It saves the placement becoming awkward later.
