Fine-line and black-and-grey tattoos, in Hongdae

A large black-and-grey Virgin Mary piece covering the back

I work in fine line and black and grey only. Studio Goun is a one-artist studio in Hongdae — the same hands draw the design and do the tattoo, one client a day.

Fine lines soften and spread over time. That is why I decide placement and line weight with the next ten years in mind, not just the first week. For places where blurring is common — wrists, fingers — I will tell you up front at the consultation.

I also take cover-ups and work over scars. Send a photo first and I will tell you what is possible.

Fine line

Drawn with thin lines. I set placement and line weight first, so it still reads years later.

How it works

From consultation to aftercare

01

Consultation

Send me the image, the placement and the rough size through the enquiry form. A reference photo speeds things up.

02

Design

I draw the design to the curve of your body, and keep adjusting it with you right up to the day of your appointment.

03

Session

One client a day. Larger pieces are split across several sessions.

04

Aftercare

The first two weeks decide how the tattoo settles. I give you written aftercare instructions, and you can ask me anything afterwards.

FAQ

Frequently asked

Do you speak English?

Yes — in writing. Please message rather than call: writing is the clearest way for both of us, and Chinese, Japanese and Korean are fine in writing too.

I am visiting Korea for a few days. Can I book?

Yes, and the earlier the better — I take one client a day. Tell me your dates in the enquiry and I will confirm what fits before you travel.

How is the price decided?

By size, placement and the time the piece takes. There is no fixed price list; I give you a range at the consultation and a firm figure once the design is settled.

Is the studio hygienic?

Needles and ink caps are single-use and disposed of after every session. Everything that touches skin is either sterile and new, or covered.

Can I fly or swim after the session?

Flying is usually fine. Swimming, saunas and long baths are not — keep the area out of water until it has finished peeling, roughly two weeks.

Do you take cover-ups?

Often, yes — over old tattoos and over scars. It depends on how dark the existing ink is, so send a photo before you book.
